I bought this HP Color Laser Brother Brother I like to substitute the 2840th. And 'smaller and quieter. Should not be calibrated with a couple of times a day. The scans are much faster than the HP, and scan quality if much better than HP. Copies and printing are excellent, as expected. Can I have a fax, it can do much with.
Long time user of Brother printers. Have had about 15 printers thru the years, from HL-1240 up to the HL-5280 DW. Have six Brother printers in current use, three are MFC- in office use. All are Double side printers.
Thru all these years only two problems and these were not the printers fault.
#1. Lighting srike took out one MFC,it was on a surge protector, but the power line ran across about 500 feet of open water. The FAX and double sided copier function still worked.
#2 Bought a couple of cases of recycled paper, OK on single side printing but paper failed on double side, took both cases back, girl said they had lots of returns on that paper. Been buying paper there for years.
I got this printer in August 2006 to bring to college with me. I print out articles and papers almost every day, and I have not had to change the toner since I bought it. The toner-replace light has been flashing since the end of my sophomore year (May 2008), but the printer is still printing just fine. Such a better value over ink, which you have to replace MUCH more often.
The printing speed is fast and the quality is great. I have had very few problems, just a few jams which were easy to clear up. I highly recommend this printer.
This is a GREAT little printer. I have had absolutely no issues with it. So far I have printed just over 12,000 pages (there is a little counter on it) and this thing is still running smoothly. I am about to have to replace my drum, which is a little expensive, but a cost incurred by any laser printer.
I calculated the cost per page and right now I am at about 4.5 cents. That is about 1/2 the cost of printing on campus on their professional laser printers. (I calculated CPP by taking cost of printer + # of toners I’ve used * price of new toner / total pages printed.) The price is only going to get cheaper the more I print.
